The Re-branding of YSL

Yves Saint Laurent's new creative director Hedi Slimane announced last week that he will be relaunching the YSL brand. Slimane is changing YSL to Saint Laurent Paris. What about the brand's legacy? Yves Saint Laurent changed the way women dressed in more ways than one creating a empire that made him one of the most influential designers in fashion history. After re-branding will YSL survive? This breaking news in the fashion industry had every fashionista going crazy in the social media world with this shocking news. I feel if something has been around for so long and has become legendary in it's own right, why would you change that? You wouldn't change Chanel would you? Especially since Laurent died only four years ago, but I do understand Slimane wanting to have his own name recognized. What do you think of this bold decision he is making?
